Upcoming events at the sports grounds: 

The Choiceland Sports Grounds land was originally purchased in 1946 by the Town of Choiceland. Located at 7th Street East, this recreational space has spent eight decades serving as a central hub for the district's athletic tournaments and public gatherings, as well as the home field for the Choiceland Devil Rays.

Historical Development & Key Milestones

1944: Choiceland established its first village municipal council, transitioning from a remote rural outpost to an organized municipality fueled by a post-war boom in the local agricultural industry.

1946: Recognizing the need for structured community infrastructure, the newly formed council purchased the dedicated land to develop the sports grounds.

Modern Era: The grounds are fully integrated alongside a wider network of local recreational infrastructure. This includes the neighbouring Choiceland Skating Rink (an indoor volunteer-run arena), curling rinks, a local campground, and ball diamonds.

2026: A massive regional sign and landmark upgrade was completed at the site through volunteer backing and community partnerships. Thank you to Grow Plan Fertalizers Ltd for the generation local business donation!

Community Role & Annual Events

Home to the Choiceland Devil Ray's, the modern, wheelchair-accessible Community Sports Grounds primarily host regional slow-pitch tournaments and major multi-sport events. The absolute focal point of the calendar year is the Choiceland Sports Day, which takes place annually on the third weekend of July. It serves as a major fundraising venue for regional public facilities like the Elks Memorial Hall and features open slow-pitch registration drawing sports teams from across the northeastern region of the province.

The Lunchwagon is a portable concession on wheels, not a food truck it has to be towed. It has made it's apperances at ball games, sports days, craft sales at the hall, funerals, etc. Contact the Elks hall for details on renting or having it supplied. You supply cooking grills, and propane. Click here for more information
