Starlink Satellite internet is available in Choiceland, and it is the fastest internet available as of right now June 2026. Sasktel is activley installing fiber optic cable to the premise town wide with an expected completion date of Fall 2027, until then Starlink will remain the fastest and honestly extrememly reliable.

I myself have had Starlink in Choiceland for 5 years now and I have only had 2 outages EVER!, neither lasting longer than 15 minutes. I purchased my equipment for 2k when the service was in beta, and I am still running the same dish, and router that I got on day one. Even in the wicked snow storms, I never seen a glitch. Starlink is also amazing for this area, because if you choose the Residential Max plan, you get a free Starlink Mini. This is an all in one router that you can put in your car, backpack, Quad, Side by side, etc and have internet whever you can see the sky. The best part is you get it for only $5.00 a month with the plan. You can power this sucker for 6-8 hours with a drill battery, any drill battery dewalt, etc. There are adapters online to purchase for this , or toss it in your car and you have internet wherever you driving, plus WiFi calling works, so your cell works anywhere as well. 

Starlink plans in Canada cater to both fixed-location homes and mobile users, featuring service tiers with no contracts. Residential plans start as low as $39 to $99/month for promotional periods, while standard monthly rates are $140/month. Mobile (Roam) plans range from $70 to over $200/month. 

I am on the Residential - 100 Mbps plan for $75.00/Mo plus tax, my house has over 30 devices connected to it from laptops, phones, lights, termostats, cameras, 3 Tv's streaming, 2 smart phones 3 tablets 4 CCTV cameras, 5 desktops, robot vaccumes and mops, everything and this plan is MORE than enough for what I need. I never buffer when I stream TV. Now I DO NOT GAME, if you are a gammer this plan would not be good for you, you would want to go on the Residential Max plan - This gives you upto 400Mbps and unlimited data plus the starlink mini is included in this plan to travel with. This plan is $150.00/Mo + Taxes. But hey its better than Sasktel who currently offer only 10 down and 5up at 90 a month

There are two ways to get Starlink service.

1-Buy from Retails (the Quickest), 

As there is often over a month wait to receive equiment when ordering directly from Starlink many people just go to a major electronics retailer and buy a kit. Home Depot, WalMart, Costco, Best Buy etc. There are two kits. 

Starlink Standard Kit: Ideal for fixed residential internet (speeds up to 250+ Mbps). Typically priced around $499

Starlink Mini Kit: Ideal for travelers and portable, off-grid use. Typically priced around $349 (You will get this free after a few months of an active residential max plan)

Download the starlink app on your iPhone or Android, this is  the only way to setup the service. Once you get the kit, Installation is a breeze, honestly anyone can do it. First test the system, find a spot in your yard to set your dish where it has a clear 360d view of the sky with no obstructions like trees. The using the Starlink App Apple or Android - use the check for obstructions feature of the app to verify a clear view of the sky, plug everything into the power as per the diagram that comes with starlink, and surf the web, If it works, mount your dish run your cable and enjoy. 

Option 2 - Order from Starlink.com - Best way to get the best plan, and the free mini

You don't own the equipment, but you dont pay a rental either. When you cancel you have to return the equipment or transfer the kit on your starlink account or you will be billed retail value. ($699.99)

When ordering on Starlink.com and trying to enter your address, you may have to use what is known as a Google Plus code, especially if you live on a farm or rural outside of a town or city. This is easy to get, just go to https://plus.codes/ enter your address on the Google map and it will give you a code something like "955QFGR7+74" you can enter this into the Starlink.com address and then in box 2 of the address line just use Choiceland Auto as the parcel drop off location if your on a farm.

Once you get the equipment do the same above as option 1 for setup and your surfing the web. I must say I love starlink, and even when fiber does come to town in a year, I dont think I will get rid of the starlink because of the traveling options, yes Sasktel Fiber will be much faster and stable; but how fast someone REALLY need.  For now this is the best value and best speed!

Setting up Starlink takes just a few minutes. Unbox the kit, connect the dish to the router, and plug it into power. Download the Starlink App (available on iOS and Google Play), place the dish outside with a clear view of the sky, and follow the in-app prompts to connect and align. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Installing Starlink a Step-by-Step Guide:

• Download the App: Before you begin, download the Starlink app to your mobile device. [1]

• Find a Clear View: Your dish needs an unobstructed, panoramic view of the sky. Use the app's "Check for Obstructions" tool by pointing your phone camera at the sky to find the best spot on your roof, yard, or patio. [1, 2]

• Connect the Hardware: Attach the provided cable to the dish (making sure it clicks in) and plug the other end into the power supply/router port labeled with the antenna icon. Plug the router into a power outlet. [1, 2]

• Connect to the Wi-Fi: Open your device's Wi-Fi settings and connect to the network named STARLINK. [1]

• Configure Your Network: Open the Starlink app, where you will be prompted to create a custom Wi-Fi network name and password. [1, 2]

Contact Access Communications for info on their internet plans in Choiceland, They are using Coax cable services to provide high speed internet to the premise, facilities are continually updated I am not sure how good the service is . Check out https://www.myaccess.ca/ for plans in town.

Xplornet Rural internet is available in Choiceland, but its terrible. 😂 No really it sucks!!
